The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) is providing additional food benefits to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients in March 2023. This is a one-time increase in benefits to help families and individuals cope with the rising cost of food. The extra food stamps will be loaded onto EBT cards by March 10th, 2023.
The additional food benefits are part of the federal government’s American Rescue Plan Act, which was passed in March 2021. The act provided additional funding for SNAP to help low-income individuals and families put food on the table during the COVID-19 pandemic. The extra food stamps have been a lifeline for many Oregonians, and the state is grateful for the federal funding that has made this possible.
