Do Food Stamps Hurt Your Credit?
Food stamps, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), are a government assistance program that provides low-income individuals and families with financial aid to purchase food. Participation in SNAP does not directly impact an individual’s credit score or credit history. Credit scores are primarily based on factors such as payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, new credit, and credit mix. SNAP benefits are not considered in these calculations.
